Workplace Violence covers a wide extent of conduct. Workplace violence is any incident in which an employee is abused, threatened or assaulted by fellow employees or by a public member arising out in different circumstances in line with his or her course of employment. Workplace violence is viewed as one of the most serious forms of misconduct in the workplace. This is because of the disadvantageous impact it can have on workplace relationships and environment in general. An employer is under an obligation to ensure that its employees are safe and not subject to any conduct that warns their welfare. Thus, an employer will usually treat workplace violence as an offence likely to lead to serious dismissal. There are certain circumstances in which the use of force in the workplace can be justifiable (Workplace Violence, December 2011).
