Additionally, Dr. Stone failed to address central issues in his argument. First, God never changes, rather it is humankind who alters and fails; so, the way in which the Israelites gained their promised land was not the way God had intended (Tullock, & McEntire, 2012). Therefore, God was not the author of this violence; rather it was man’s failure to uphold the original covenants that led to this eventual violence over their birthright.
Also, Dr. Stone touches on a violent past, but not the violence in our present time. The occurrence of violence is neither past nor future, but a continual action within humanity. Moreover, consider the fact that they were fighting for land and resources, today is no different, humans still fight for property and means. The difference is that this era’s technology has advanced to the point where violence is no longer on a personal level and that these critics do not fight for daily
