The man behind it all In the mid-20th century, movies from the 50’s and 60’s were simple and yet captivating with many different genera’s to choose from. Some of the films where adapted to fit stories and epic tales you might find and remember from older books and fables from the past. Some of the best films focused on the classical Greek periods, the medieval times, renaissance period’s old westerns and modern day flicks with a strange horror aspect in it. No more of the dramatic and casual horror that was in the 50’s era of movie scare but what the audience wanted something more. In 196o Price meat up with a great director by the name of Roger Corman that worked with the American International Pictures company (AIP). Corman was an awesome director before he meet price and establishing a legacy for himself in the 50’s as an independent directing maverick of film, doing films like Swamp Women (1955), The Wasp Woman and A Bucket of Blood, but when Corman started to collaborate and work with Price the genera of horror and all its sub-categories were blown up to a new level of performance and greatness. The AIP took a chance on Corman and his pitch to do a film based off of a story written by Edger Allen Poe called “The Fall of the House of Usher”. Price is still mentioned in today’s pop culture references like when Tim Burton made a short film called Vincent honoring Price and his influence on his works, or when he was Parodied in The Simpsons on one of their later episodes. The band Deep Purple even did a hit single called “Vincent Price” last year that was dedicated especially to him because he was a close friend of the band. For anyone to get a song about them never the less a Deep Purple song is a very rear instance and marks Vincent Price forever in music history. Price has contributed so much to the lives of many horror movie fans and regular people just by being who he is and doing what he loves best.
