The rash will first look like little lesions all over the body. Then, they will start turning into vesicles all over the body. While the lesions are in this state if anyone comes in contact with the pus from the vesicles then the individual who came in contact with the pus will more than likely get the Varicella Zoster virus. It usually takes about five to ten days to heal. While the child has vesicles they must stay out of school or daycare or they will spread the virus. Once the vesicles have started to dry up the lesions start to look like scabs all over the individuals body. Then, when all of the vesicles are dried up the child can go back to school and daycare. To help prevent getting Varicella you need to get an immunization. People who get an immunization will more than likely not get the virus. There is still a ten percent chance the individual could still get Varicella; but if they do end up getting it then the symptoms will be less sever. Although the vaccine is not mandatory it is greatly advised. You can start giving your child the immunization at 12-18 months old, it would be ideal to give it to them again before they start school when they are between 4-6 years old.
