An example of this in Harrison Bergeron is when the handicapper general only takes their ideas into the mind and makes the whole society built around what they think is right and should happen. In the Giver the same thing happens with the chief elder and the community members. The chief elder just does what she thinks is right even though that may not be what the people want. Sometimes the chief elder would chastise anyone who spoke up against the rules because they did not agree with what the chief elder says. When this happens there can also be arguments and disagreements over the way the society runs, just like in the Giver and Harrison Bergeron. This is a reason because this has a big effect on the way a utopian society is run and it affects the people that live in it.
In conclusion, there are many reasons why a utopian society could not last very long. Utopian societies are very rare and hard to come across as you can tell. No society will ever be perfect because they may eventually have disagreements and arguments, they may also decrease in resources over the time, and they also may just be thinking about themselves and their self-interest. Overall, I think that utopian societies do not last very long due to things that happen in their society and the three examples we gave
