United States of America, land of the free. Our entire country’s history is based on people who fought for what they believed in, who fought for freedom. One of the main reasons that we won the revolutionary war, is because everyone in what was to become the United States of America, fought as one, everyone took their share, and fought together. Taking part in the military teaches individuals how to stand up for not only themselves but also for others and what they believe in. It also helps to shape a person’s personality, and has life-long advantages. From a young age, Americans are taught to stand up for ourselves, others, and for what we believe in. Schools and parents try to drill this into the minds of the young, as a way to prevent bullying. However, once we “grow up” this idea is mentioned less and less. As things become easier, the generations feel more entitled to anything and everything. The younger generations don’t feel like they have to work for anything. Going into the military would show individuals how fighting for something worthwhile feels good. It creates a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. When was the last time you stood up for something or someone else? What about the last time you told someone younger that they must stand up for themselves and others? Respect, responsibility, and loyalty. Each are important qualities to have as a human being. We need these qualities to be considered “successful” in society. The military life teaches not only…
