The greater mobility of people has facilitated the transmission of diseases that would not otherwise have crossed natural boundaries. (Maurer-Smith, p. 201). With greater opportunities for travel and the blurring of boundaries, health care needs to be a global priority. People traveling is not the only means of transporting disease and illness from country to country. Infected products can be sent from one country to another. (Maurer-Smith, p. 201). If all countries made it a priority to participate in global healthcare, we could drastically cut down on pandemics and eradicate some diseases. The United States Department of Health and Human Services has “The Global Health Strategy”. One of the goals of the GHS is to protect and promote the health and well-being of American 's through global health action. (GlobalHealth.gov). The U.S. Department of Health interacts with governments in Africa, Americas, Europe, Eurasia, Middle East, Asia and the Pacific to strengthen public health programs and improve healthcare. (GlobalHealth.gov).
