In all project there are stakeholders which can be describe as either person, organization or a groups that have some form of interest in a project. Stakeholders have influence in every aspect of the project and this influence more often end up is some form of conflict. Conflicts can derail a project, increase cost or even end a project and to avoid situation as such, it is imperative to understand the importance of stakeholder difference in conflict resolutions. This paper will discuss how understanding cultural value, beliefs and norms of communication aids in conflict resolution between stakeholders.

Cultural value Stakeholder can be from different culture with different values from each other and without understanding those values it will prevent conflicts from being resolve. According to Lewicki 2010, value is a judgment of what is important in social interaction, while cultural value is the judgement shared by a group and national cultures differ in terms of shared value (p 325). Knowing the value of stakeholders are keys in resolving conflicts through negotiations. Negotiations can be difficult, therefore it is significant understanding that stakeholder’s values are either individualist and collective cultures. Individualist culture is one in which individuals are reward for their individual accomplishment and protect individual rights.
