According to the America Trucking Association, 70 percent of all U.S freight by tonnage is moved by truck. This is projected to be 9 billion tons yearly. The movement of these freights needs competent and devoted drivers. However, one of the challenging factor regarding the industry is the shortage of truck drivers. The shortage has resulted to be one of the greatest challenges for the United States shipping industry as well as the economy. The above-mentioned shortage has a dribble down antagonistic consequence on the international shipping. Some of the major effects the truck driver shortage has on the global shipping include: late shipment pickup and arrivals; increased costs as well as fees, and also causes congestion.
