Certain identifiable socio-demographic characteristics place diverse groups at-risk of social and economic deprivation, alienation, marginalization, and oppression. Historically, the range of differences between gender and sex has positioned women at a significant disadvantage in the macro social environment. In today’s male-dominated world, women who experience traumatic events, such as domestic violence are likely to be at-risk of social and economic deprivation, alienation, and oppression. The following section, Rationale for Selection, will be accomplished by Erika Pierce; and will apply relevant principles of the Black Perspective to explain why women with trauma history of domestic violence is a significant topic of choice. Erika Pierce will also accomplish the History of Treatment by the Macro Social Environment. In the History of Treatment by the Macro Social Environment, the overall past experience of women with trauma of domestic violence will be discussed. Tania Arevalo will also complete the Socio-demographic Characteristics section; in this section, specific socio-demographic characteristics of women with trauma history of domestic violence will be identified and explicated. Tania Arevalo and Erika Pierce will both describe in the section of Generalist Social Work Practice the overall state of generalist social work practice with women victims of domestic violence.
