The World of Ashes
What would happen if society speed up so much that murders were overlooked, billboards were built miles long and books were outlawed, knowledge was forbidden, and memories were hard to come by one man by one man in this crazy world knew there was something better. Guy Montag is a fireman, a man who burns books for a living but through many trials and difficulties he realizes that books hold a deeper meaning and could over all be good for society. In Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, you will find that Guy Montag changes his view on society as the story progresses he is influenced by many people, views on his job, and the overall environment of the world around him.
In this false world full of misleading truth and lost history the protagonist Guy Montag is not changed into the Liberal man he turns out to be without the influences of the people around him. Clarisse the neighbor girl who is quite peculiar to Montag, is one of the most influential people in the story. When walking home Clarisse had a tendency of asking Montag about his job saying “i heard once that a long time ago houses used to burn by accident and they needed firemen to stop the flames.”(8) Montag denies that this event ever occurred, yet it evidently stuck with him making him question Beatty during the duration of the story. Montag soon asked Beatty about the history of firemen and how they might be negatively affecting society yet Beatty firmly exclaims “burn all, burn everything. Fire is…
