Katherine acting in a headstrong manner is her advantage but in the moments of manipulation and hindering mental illness it isn’t there anymore and her behavior is completely hindered by the people surrounding her life. Katherine is a character manipulated and hindered by the situations occurring which affect her to the point where Katherine is mentally changed and although there will be many that argue that these women aren’t being crushed. They are crushed, control and transformed into characters that are unrecognizable and lack personality. They face situations, and moments affecting their mental, emotional and physical manners. The contrasting individuals in Katherine’s life cause challenges that Katherine has to endure. From the principles of the time period to the expectations of a women, not allowed to have a voice and men influencing women and making all of the decisions for them. These characters face the challenges, but the character affected the most is Katherine.
