Among other events, there were two important events that took place during the 1960s. One of them was the Space Race. The Space Race was a fight between the United States and the USSR to see who could put satellites into space first. Another event that occurred was the progression of 1960s of music. With music progressing, many groups from Great Britain came to the United States. This became known as the British Invasion and the groups that came had a great influence on the people of United States and the music of the United States. But with that being said, the 1960s Space Race had a greater impact on American life than the music of the 1960s because of the Space Race’s impact on technology, education, and society.
The 1960s in America was a memorable decade because there was so much happening at once. The United States of America’s people saw the progression of the Civil Rights Movement by the passing of new acts and laws. One of these acts was the Civil Rights Act that was passed in 1964 . This specific act banned racial discrimination in all facilities. While the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was not a panacea for discrimination, it did facilitate the progress of the Civil Rights Movement, just as the Voting Rights Act did. This act, passed in 1965, banned literacy tests and other ways of discrimination in the voting booths. Another impactful event occurring during the 60s was the Vietnam War.
