After the Civil War in 1861-1865, the north and south of America were destroyed and divided. The one way they had to fix it was through reconstruction, or the rebuilding of the whole country. Throughout the whole period there were many ups and downs. In many ways it was like doing a big flip, at first it was all well, and they were standing on strong ground, but all of a sudden it flipped and it all started to go downhill. There are many examples that show how this happened from end to finish, from military zones helping America, to the KKK destroying it.

The reconstruction after the war had two sides that flipped, the good and the bad. First, there were many benefits of reconstruction that came out in the beginning. After the war in 1865
