The Civil War was viewed by the South as the “Lost Cause” (textbook, 452) justifying the defeat by moving on hoping for a better future. The Civil War was positive with freeing African American from slavery and reform for women. The North had a better economic outcome during the war versus that of the devastated lands left behind in the South. Reconstruction brought legislation of civil rights and all men the right to vote no matter of race. Reconstruction did bring a few positive things to America, but overall outcome did not meet the original intent that Reconstruction meant to be. The devastation that war brings there will always be positive and negatives outcomes. The learning from each one of those will provide the most benefit for the future success of all
