One beneficial effect on the economy is a possible increase of workforce from 173.2 million in 2015 to 183.2 million in 2035, if the rate of immigrants stays the same. On Angel Island immigrants were not treated fairly. They were detained for long periods of time, their interviews would be grueling and lasted several hours or days with a high risk for deportation, unlike Ellis island where they were off the island quickly, within a few hours. They were asked reasonable questions during the interview with a low risk for deportation. Both islands would deport immigrants if they were found with any disease unless they were sent to a hospital at their own expense. All immigrants passing through either of these islands waned to find better life here in America, this was a common goal for most immigrants. There was another factor of coming to the America which was a push factor. Immigrants were pushed out of their country by some type of internal conflict within their
