The solution to most problems that society is facing day-to-day is not black and white. A gray area is always present which can be perplexing to grasp our thoughts around. Similarly, the question concerning the idea of religion conflicting with science is not a black or white answer but rather a gray area one. Religious faith and scientific understanding, as the two are used to explain both natural and supernatural phenomena on one’s own accord, are not in conflict with each other because it is a personal choice to allow it to contradict or conflict one’s own belief. Religion and science may both appear similar yet confounding simultaneously. Religion, for instance, provides an explanation to most supernatural phenomena. This is usually done with the help of the bible. The bible was believed to be written “given by inspiration of god, and is profitable by doctrine, by reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). Christians believe that men were inspired by god to write the bible. Additionally, since the bible was written, it has not been rewritten or changed. Science, on the other hand, is the total opposite, constantly evolving with new ideas as more information becomes available. Even though science also explains natural and supernatural phenomena, it is not written by inspiration from a higher power and does not have to remain the same.
