Most people think the one-cent coin known as the penny, only takes up space with not much value, and they don’t really think of the changes the penny has been thorough to get where it is today. Over the years, there were many reasons for change to the Lincoln penny. These include many changes made to the appearance and composition of the penny.
The first change has to do with the initials of the penny-maker, Victor D. Brenner (VDB) His initials were placed on the early penny and people didn’t seem to enjoy it. The government received various complaints about the size of the initials being too overpowering. The government decided to remove the initials, only to put them back on smaller a few years later.
