Romeo and Juliet act irrationally and take their relationship too fast, ignoring the advice they get from their mentor, Friar Lawrence, the friar or Verona. He tells them: “Wisely and slow. They stumble that run fast.” (2.3, 94). This quote means that those who rush, stumble and fall, which is a metaphor for the Romeo and Juliet meaning that if they take their relationship too fast, it will end tragically, this is also foreshadowing the ending of the play; however, because the two are so in love, they do not listen to him. Another example of when love causes someone to act irrationally is when Romeo gets into a fight with Tybalt. He does this because he wants to be with Juliet and he decides to fight Tybalt even though he knows he is aggressive. When main character, Juno MacGraff sacrifices her reputation because of her love for her baby, it shows how love can sometimes lead people to make decisions that aren’t always in their personal best interest and aren’t always rational. This is seen when Juno says, “I just want the baby to be with people that will love it and be good parents” (Juno), this shows that although keeping the baby was a lot of hard work and she had to sacrifice her reputation, her love for her baby influenced her to make a decision that wasn’t rational or in her best interest, but helped others in the long term. Another way love influenced this decision is when she is supported by her loving father, Mac. “I’m not ready to be a mom” (Juno), says Juno, and although her dad was disappointed in her because she got pregnant, he tells her that he supports her decision of giving birth and giving her baby to Vanessa and Mark, he shows his support when he says that he wants to go with her to meet the adoptive parents to make sure she is okay and that it goes well. His love and support makes it easier for her to make the decision to not have an abortion and continue her pregnancy.
