Love is made out across the world to be a feeling like no other. But is that the entire truth, is love all good things? Along with love comes many other intense emotions. Such as Romeo and Juliet portrayed, showing the passion between two people in love, but having a tragic ending that truly moves the audience and shows just how powerful love can be. In Helen Fisher’s article, The Brain in Love, love is referred to as an addiction which is shown through Romeo and Juliet’s choices. Romeo and Juliet become dazed by their newfound love, leading to their oblivion of the world and problems around them. Romeo kills a total of three people including himself, which before being in love he never would have committed. The beginning to the tragedy of the story begins with the fight between romeo and tybalt, which ends with Tybalt being killed. When Tybalt first fights Mercutio he kills him, which leads to the later fight between Romeo and Tybalt. This proves the “fire and powder” representation to be very accurate, as before Romeo fell in love with Juliet, he most likely would not have done these things. Also when romeo finds juliet and thinks that she has died, he kills himself quickly to be with her and because of all the sadness he feels. This shows just how love can be controlling towards a person. Their love was dangerous and like a bomb waiting to explode and when it does not only they are affected. Such as the fact that Lady montague dies because of her sadness when Romeo has to leave. Romeo speaks of love at a point in the play saying, “under love’s heavy burden do I sink” (1.4.22). Towards the end, Romeo goes to the tomb to see Juliet where he runs into Paris. Pairs then threatens to call the police on Romeo for breaking into the tomb, which is when they get into a fight. Romeo then beats Paris and kills him, which though he does not want to be found by the police, still is different than the way Romeo had acted at the beginning before falling in love with Juliet.This is how he affects people without thinking just doing whatever he pleases without considering the serious impacts of his
