Even though, “The Masque of the Red Death”, is a story about a disease that spreads around a small village. There is more meaning to it than just the disease that it spread, known as the Black Death. Therefore, throughout this essay I’m going to explain three important details that involve both the story and the movie. These include, beginning with Christianity and Poes’ meaning of the inevitability of death; following along with the different meanings of Devil worshiping between the two; finally, the overall meaning of comparison between both book and movie involving death.
First, I’m going to explain, Christianity and Poes’ meaning of the inevitability of death. In the book, Poe conveys the meaning that death can not be cheated. While on the other hand, in the Movie Christianity changes the whole inevitability of death. An example tied to this point is of the couple that escapes the Red Death. They wouldn’t have been able escape death if it wasn’t for Christianity. However, the movie proves Poe wrong, as he proclaimed that death has no stop. Therefore, starting off with the book. Throughout the book Devil worshiping is avoided. Prince Prospero fears anything that is involved with death. Prince Prospero doesn’t want any part in devil worshiping throughout the book. Meanwhile, in the movie, Prince Prospero is all about his master known as the Devil. The Devil conveys meaning to Prospero in the movie. The Devil means safety and security to Prince Prospero throughout the movie. While on the other hand, in the book the Devil means death to Prince Prospero, that is why he only has belief in his own
