Edgar Allan Poe was one of America's most considerable writers. He composed numerous interesting poems and short stories. One of Poe's most well known short stories was "The Masque of the Red Death." Today the theme and significance of it are still highly among scholars and faultfinders. In this sense, Prospero is a mirror image of William Shakespeare's character of a same name in The Tempest (1611), comparatively a tasteful magician who makes a substitute universe of creative reality not gullible to the possibilities of outer reality. The theme in Edgar Allan Poe's short story "The Masque of the Red Death" is the inevitability of escaping mortality, regardless of one’s power, influence and wealth.
