How does Conformity affects People's’ Lives?
With life being who you are is better than being someone else because being yourself expresses who you are. Being a non-conformity shows people your characteristics and shows your uniques skills. People may argue that people that are conformity is the best since you could blend in with others. This is true, but if you blend in with the society you are basically hiding who you actually are.
Non-conformity is an important factor to be an individual. In the article, “The Sociology of Leopard Man,” by Logan Feys he shows that a non-conformity is a good factor in life by stating that “Leopard Man, owing to the fact that is tattooed from head to toe with leopard spots” (Leopard Man 1). This quote tells us that he basically is being himself by tattooing his whole body. This also shows us that he is trying to be an unique individual. In the short story, “The Pedestrians,” by Ray Bradbury, he described the city by stating “The car moved down the empty river-bed street and off away, leaving the empty streets with the empty pavements, and no sound and no motion all the rest of the chill November night” (Bradbury 5). It seems that he is trying to tell us that the city is empty with no one around. This shows us that since everyone is busy being the same by staying home and watching television there’s no one outside doing anything. In the article, “The Scientology of Leopard Man,” Feys described the essentials of being a human by stating “To be human, is to be an individual human, with individuals tastes, talents, values, and dreams that are distinct from those of others” (Feys 1).
