Plato claims that one can reach the truth by knowledge of the soul. This theory can be observed when Lincoln has flashbacks and knows already how to survive in the real world. These scenes may also refer to Plato’s Theory of Recollection which is mentioned in Phaedo (111). While the rest of the clones only care about going to the island in order to have a good life –basically satisfy their bodily pleasures, the ones who are like Lincoln “…do not travel the same road as those who do not know where they are going…” (121).This theme refers to Plato’s Theory of Forms and Ideas by making us investigate for the answers of philosophical questions as “Can we really believe what we see? What is real?” The time when Lincoln finds out the true knowledge according to these questions, he manages to escape and it makes him a successful person.
