The Indie Game Analysis

My review of the indie game is aimed at 13 to 25 year old casual gamers, the target audience can be any gender but typically slightly more males watch gaming channels than females do. This video would be on a YouTube gaming channel as the website is popular with the target audience. The purpose of the video is to review the game, demonstrate the gameplay and to instruct the audience on how to download the game for themselves. The aim of the piece is to encourage people, as well as for them to download the game, to ‘like’ the video, comment on the video, subscribe to the channel and to watch the user’s other videos. This piece is influenced by other gaming channels, such as ‘Pewdiepie’ or ‘Markiplier’, who are also popular with the target audience …show more content…
I began by using a lexical set of technology, referring to “GameJolt” and “YouTube”, to show the practical aspect of the review, then moved onto a lexical set of murder, with the concrete nouns “culprit” and “blood”, to establish the crime genre of the game and provide escapism. I used the proper noun “Mr White”, which is also a reference to ‘Cluedo’, the noun phrase “masquerade party” and the concrete noun “manor”; to establish the game’s context and storyline.
I have used declaratives to inform about the game and evaluate it, such as “the controls are fairly simple” and using intensifiers to describe it as a “really good indie game”. I have used first person pronouns, the YouTuber referring to themselves as “I”, to show their opinions and direct address, using the third person pronoun “you”, so the viewer feels as if the video is more personal and engaging. I have used colloquial language as it is an appropriate informal register for the target audience because the YouTuber seems friendly and

Murders are seen on the news and television shows on a daily basis. People often hear of the brute and forceful methods killers use to harm their victims. The Devil in the White City, In Cold Blood, and Amelia Anne is Dead and Gone all divulge accounts of murders. These three books all use similar and some unique tactics for their books to be a success. As some murderers employ similar killing strategies, authors of murder novels employ similar devices of foreshadowing, pathos, and point of view, along with unique rhetoric and style, to cause readers to experience the loss while creating a bone-chilling effect when a character is murdered.…

Throughout the evolution of video games, there have been assumptions on how they benefit or denigrate culture through knowledge and violence. In the essay “Dream machines,” Will Wright keys in on the point of video games and how they benefit the culture. He argues that video games are only viewed in a negative light by society due to the assumption by elders that “they’re violent, addictive, childish, and worthless” (Wright 211). By using opinionated evidence that is very biased and tech user friendly, Wright creates an unintentional barrier between him and his intended audience.…
