Can Videogames be considered art?
"No Gods or Kings, only Man." This is a quote from Bioshock a first person shooter about a underwater city, but besides the fact that it’s a first person shooters it also features certain elements that make it art and videogames in general include these elements as well so shouldn’t they be considered art? Videogames should be considered art because they include traditional forms of artistic expression, can make of an experience personal or meaningful, and are a natural evolution of what we as humans have always done, play.
One reason videogames can be considered an art is because they include traditional forms of artistic expression that have been used since the early ages from 3D modeling to dynamic music and more. According to Chris Melissinos from Time “they include many forms of traditional artistic expression—sculpture in the form of 3D modeling, illustration, narrative arcs, and dynamic music—that combine to create something that transcends any one type.” Thus, it can be seen that videogames include different elements of art that go far back.

If you can observe the work of another and find in it personal connection, then art has been achieved.” Thus, it can be seen that videogames can appeal to people and their everyday
