When teachers are unable to captivate their students begin to struggle to pay attention during class and eventually struggle to listen to what the teacher is trying to convey issues arise in the classroom and the individual and collective learning of students becomes at risk (Wilson). Listing is key to students learning new ideas and eventually improving their skills. The responsibility to make lessons easy to listen to an engaging to the student falls on the teacher, if the teacher is unsuccessful at this the students might struggle to use their listening skills to learn to their potential. How a teacher maintains their learning environment is also key to students listening and absorbing information in the classroom. The most common hindrance to listening is noise. The classroom can be an extremely noisy and disgracing place with chairs constantly shuffling, pencils dropping, and sometimes constant talking in the background. This background noise can be distracting to students and should be controlled by the teacher (Wilson). Some students might have issues with learning disabilities and might not have the listening skills that other students possess, thus it is up to the teacher to find ways to help the student listen (Shore). The interpersonal communication skill of listening is also an important skill to possess in the classroom. Students and teachers need to know how to listen in order to do the work that they need to do successfully. It is up to the teacher to create a learning environment that allows the students in the class room to learn in a quiet and orderly environment that will allow them to get the most out of their listening skills.
