In the meantime, Montag is on the side against burning books. Nevertheless, Beatty, the captain of the firefighters takes Montag to his own house to burn it. The Green Bullet buzzes in Montag's ear, Faber says to kill Beatty. With that thought in his head, Guy decides to murder Beatty with the flamethrower. After the kill, Montag runs to Faber's house realizing that another Mechanical Hound is on his trail. To summarize, a Mechanical Hound is a metal dog that can smell the scent of book holders. When they find the book holder, they pierce them with a needle that paralyzes them. Faber lends Montag some of his old clothes to confuse the Mechanical Hound’s senses. With Faber's clothes on, he floats down the river into St. Louis to find a retired printer that will help him. This printer is in a group named the book people, led by a man named Granger. Montag reaches St. Louis and gets into the book people where Granger welcomes him. The Book People memorize books and different types of literature. “Do you know why books such as this are so important? Because they have quality. And what does the word quality mean? To me it means texture. This book has pores” (Faber 81)
