How Did Fahrenheit 451 Change Montag

The novel Fahrenheit 451 is about Guy Montag, a fireman; who has job to burn books. In the beginning of the novel Montag takes pleasure in burning books, and just like society does not question anything he does, he just does. Later in the novel he begins to feel emotions and starts to understand and think for himself. Throughout Fahrenheit 451 Monatag starts to change because the influence of a young girl named Clarisse, and later in the book an old man named Faber, made a big impact on Montag. Continuously Monatag starts to change in minor and major ways, for better or worse. Montag starts to think and feel throughout the novel making him a threat to society, and also a government target. In The Hearth and The Salamander, part one of the novel, Clarisse is introduced. She has much knowledge and is a curious young girl. The first consequence I found in Fahrenheit 451 is when Montag was forced to burn down his own house, he gets there just to find out that his own wife betrayed him. Not only does Beatty make him burn down his house but threatens to track down Faber and arrest him. This is the result of Montag reading Dover Beach, to Mildred and her friends, who ended up turning him in. The second harsh consequence from reading Dover Beach to Mildred and her friends is, when Montag kills Captain Beatty. It is a consequence because he read the poem to his wife and her friends which made them feel emotions, this made Mildred’s friends upset because the society does not like to feel any emotions. The outcome of Montag killing Beatty is now he has to run from the cops and a mechanical hound, which was set out to kill him.
