The Importance Of Education

When I was younger, my parents always encouraged me to be myself and to never give up. As I got older, they continued to tell me the same thing. Never once did I feel like my parents were pushing me to be a certain person or to want certain things. I was always allowed to express myself the way I wanted (blue hair in middle school) and explore career opportunities (fashion designer). Even now, they still encourage me to set goals and to work hard to achieve them. When I first started high school, I wanted to possibly go into teaching but I soon learned that teaching was not something I was interested in. At the end of my sophomore year I started to become interested in the health field. During my junior year I came up with many different career options including nurse, paramedic, neonatal surgeon, and pediatrician. By the beginning of senior year I was very undecided in what I wanted to do with my life. I had decided to take a sports medicine class that year, not knowing that that class would lead me to become interesting in Athletic Training. As the year progressed, I continued to be amazed by how amazed I was by Athletic Training. Even now at Bethel, I continue to be thrilled by the opportunities being in the Athletic Training program provides. With that being said, that brings me to my top academic goal; getting into the Athletic Training program. When I first began college, I was not very worried about getting in to the program but once I learned all the steps and requirements it takes, I have begun to second guess myself. I know that dI will have to work really hard to get in. Slacking off and not trying is not going to cut it during my college years here at Bethel. Right now, psychology is my largest obstacle to get around. But I know that if I work hard, study, and remember that it’s okay to ask questions when I don 't understand, I can succeed and get into the program with no problems. I have always been a social person, just like my dad. I absolutely love being around people, especially my friends. But I have an issue when it comes to branching out. Once I find my friends, my group of people to hang out with, I tend to get uncomfortable when other people join in. The big problem with that is that branching out is what college is all about! So, I am currently trying to work on branching out. I try to …show more content…
Even then, I never felt like my parents ever pushed religion on us. Sure, we went to church every Sunday and I knew my parents believed in God, Jesus, and the Bible, but we didn 't pray before every meal and they didn 't really ever talk about their views on societal issues. I never had a strong relationship with God until I started going to my youth group in eighth grade and then it grew even more when a friend of mine started a Bible Study on Sunday nights when we were Juniors. When I started at Bethel, I think I started to stray from God and worshiping and prayer and my faith all together. My goal in my spiritual walk is to get back into the habit of talking with God and becoming close to Him again. I’m going to get there by getting more involved with things on campus like bible studies and worship

Growing up I never had a clear idea of what I wanted to do as a profession. No inclination of something that amazed me or pushed me toward it. I discounted anything from the medical field because everyone was going there and I didn't want to be a lost number of people rushing to the same career, I wanted to be a little different.…

When I was a child when someone asked me, "What are you going to be when you grow up?" My answer was always, "I am going to be a nurse. " When I attended college the first time, my answer became, "I 'm not sure what I want to be." Right out of high school making the decision of what you are going to do for the rest of your life is scary, so I juggled back and forth from teaching and nursing. I eventually decided to take a break for a while until I knew what I needed to do.…

As any other, typical high school student, I was confused in which career I wanted to go into. I looked for clarity by discussing with guidance counsellors, friends and parents. Originally, my mom tried to encourage me in becoming a French teacher (to use my abilities to speak fluent French to my advantage) but I never really saw myself doing that for the rest of my life. Sadly, nobody really seemed to have any helpful advice other than "what are your interests?" Honestly, I was not really sure.…

Next, as stated in the discussion board, I am a preacher’s kid so that means Christianity and prayer played a major role growing up. Both my mother and step father instilled in me that it is important to have a relationship with God. We went to bible study on Wednesday and service on Sunday. Also, my parents made sure that we were involved in some type of activity so I became a praise dancer at the age of 14 and now that is my passion. It might sound like my parents were strict and shoved church down our throat…

Education is the key to furthering social and economic development around the globe. Throughout history, philosophers and world leaders have recognized the importance of education in society. Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Even though many great figure heads agree with this statement, schools across the United States seem to be falling short. When the No Child Left Behind Act passed, the goal was to be able to hold students accountable through annual testing, while also being flexible to their specific needs (NCLB).…
