Teachers are the ones who will give the education needed in order to make it in life. Authors such as Moore, Rose, and Anyon give their thoughts and experiences with teachers; in these few selections, they give insight as to what they have experienced in their own lives. My school experience with teachers was similar to those described by the authors. I have always had the upmost respect for my teachers; I know most are hardworking and dedicated to their students. Moore made some very good points when he was talking about how important teachers are. Like Rose, I too experienced the boring, district-required curriculum the teachers had to go through, but I also understand they were only doing their job. Lastly, with Jean Anyon, I have had a couple experiences like she described in the working class. Not all my teachers took as much time as others; this was sometimes frustrating but I usually ended up pulling through because I wanted to do well; other students, less motivated than myself, did not. I know not everyone respects and appreciates teachers as much as they should; I know if someone were to read the works of these authors, maybe their points of view would change. I feel as if everyone should stop and think for a minute; without teachers, we wouldn’t have some of the knowledge we do

When schools are failing and students aren’t learning, who is held for responsible? The answer to this question is more likely point toward one answer: teachers. Teachers have long since become the scapegoat or pawn for their students’ performance. Many debaters like Anne Perrin, author of the essay “Stop Blaming Teachers (2008),” argues that the society blame teachers for our nation’s educational shortcoming instead of the “real culprits” (87). I found her essay to be very strong as she uses ethos, pathos, and logos to support her claims as well as use humor to connect with her audience.…

In the article, “A New Deal for Teachers,“ by Mathew Miller, he argues that low income families with students from fourth grade through eighth grade show significantly lower tests scores compared to students from high income areas. This problem Miller addresses, is that there are not enough good teachers in poor cities, and not enough teachers willing to continue their jobs as teachers. Another argument Miller indicates is that having a good quality teacher makes a huge difference in the child’s education and overall development. Miller says that teachers, who do not care about their students and their performance, result in students doing poorly in class academics. One way to resolve these problems is to raise the wages for the teachers, but base salary upon performance and educational background.…

Another year has come and the past and yet again Nevada has made its presence known; but not in the way it wants. Nevada, as keeping in tradition, has for the third year in the row ranked last among all states and Washington DC in education. Now this won 't come as a surprise to many, with the lackluster funding, and scandal that continuously define Nevada 's education system. Yet nevertheless, this isn 't the kind of news Nevadans want to hear. And with the current debate over Core Curriculum, and the several education-related initiatives on this year 's 2016 ballot; the conversation over education has never been so relevant.…
