As any other, typical high school student, I was confused in which career I wanted to go into. I looked for clarity by discussing with guidance counsellors, friends and parents. Originally, my mom tried to encourage me in becoming a French teacher (to use my abilities to speak fluent French to my advantage) but I never really saw myself doing that for the rest of my life. Sadly, nobody really seemed to have any helpful advice other than "what are your interests?" Honestly, I was not really sure. I spent most of my time being with my friends and working in a fast food restaurant. I could not see how those interests could help me choose what I wanted to do. Tragically, in January, my grandfather passed away from cancer. On multiple occasions he was in the Emergency Room at Windsor Regional Hospital. My grandmother described it as a zoo, a mad house. In my opinion, a place to help people shouldn't be hectic. If I would to be hired as nurse in Windsor, I would like to change the way things run in the Emergency Room for future patients. I believe order and control need to take place. I would attempt to speak to the management team and discuss a solution. If I am not heard a petition is always an option to let my voice be heard. As a nurse, I want to be able to help people have a better quality of life. If someone is in my care, it's because they need help and I want to give that to them. Not just by helping them heal physically but also helping them realize that someone will care for them in their time of need. Other careers will not have that personal satisfaction. If I had decided I wanted to be an accountant, doing people's taxes would not have given me any type of inner fulfillment.
