Coffee is more than a beverage to me: it’s a lifestyle, and it’s a way of making life more pleasurable. I consider myself a coffee addict, in fact it’s something I proudly declare on most days; however, it’s often a struggle to find a good cup in the endless sea of overpriced, corporate coffee houses. There are some days when the burnt beans of Starbucks simply cannot cut it when it comes to my caffeine fix. London is a place where there’s not a shortage of anything, much less coffee shops. If you’re lucky enough to be in London, one of the best things you could do would be to spend a day, or better yet a weekend, wandering from coffee shop to coffee shop simply enjoying the atmosphere of the vibrant city and it’s lively shops. The students were allowed to roam freely in throughout the United Kingdom on the weekends, and I decided to put my love of coffee and my unique location to good use. The first weekend, I took my free time and set about to visit as many coffee shops and houses as possible in London. Taking every opportunity of my free time in London, I tried practically every variation of the classic coffee beverages; however, the Flat White (a white coffee with espresso and milk) became my standard drink of choice. The short art history based study abroad trip became not only about my quest to visit as many museums as humanly possible but to also find, in my opinion, the perfect Flat White. Coffee shop hopping was the best way for me to spend my weekends and allowed me to genuinely experience London. I didn’t confine my coffee quest to the weekends, however, every day of the week I had at least three cups of coffee from different locations. Visiting the countless galleries and museums within London is also a great way to get a taste of coffee as well—from the Courtauld Institute to the White Chapel Gallery, almost every museum offers some sort of cafe where one is able to take a break, enjoy a espresso, and simply revel in the atmosphere of the
