The future of mankind may be changed by whether or not human cloning is successful. Human cloning is carried out by using the DNA present in the cells provided by one human being. The DNA from the donor is then chemically manipulated to function like a new human egg, which will mature into a human, assuming it survives. This is contrary to the natural process of human reproduction, in which two parents are involved. Human cloning used to reproduce is called reproductive cloning, and cloning used to restore limbs and organs is called therapeutic cloning. It is also possible to clone material objects such as food through cloning. Although human cloning presents many new opportunities for mankind, it is most probable to result in failure and deformed clones, is ethnically incorrect, and is likely to harm psychological health of clones produced through such means; therefore, human cloning is a process that should not be performed.
Even though instances of successfully cloned animals are made public, the number of physically and genetically deformed clones greatly outnumbers the successful clones. Numerically speaking, the success rate of cloning animals is less than three percent. Put into perspective, that is at most thirty successes for every one thousand cloning attempts. Yet, there are many problems among the three percent of successfully cloned animals.
