The Holy Spirit
In many churches across this country they will sing a song of praise which asks the Holy Spirit to come and fill this place. The question one needs to answer is why do people see the need to be filled by the Holy Spirit? Romans 8:5-7 tells us, “Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.” The Holy Spirit is necessary for God to operate in our lives because I see the Holy Spirit as a deliver.
The book of Romans was written to bring unity among the people. During this time there were disagreements between the Jews and the Non-Jews. Paul main goal was to unite the Jews and Non-Jews to believe in the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul was using the scripture to show The Holy Spirit is able to deliver us from the things not of God, by delivering us from what our flesh desires. The Holy Spirit sets us apart from the things not of God by delivering us from the snares and worldly lifestyles. Prior to a relationship with Christ people tend to live any way they want. However, as soon as you say yes to Christ, the spirit is there to direct you away from the pleasures of the world and redirect you to the teachings of Christ.
