Many adults face a decision between which educational route to follow beyond high school. For some, that decision is between a two-year college and a four-year institution. However, some adults have limits and responsibilities that factor into such a decision. “In the 2013-14 academic year, forty-six percent of students who completed a degree at a four-year institution were enrolled at a two-year institution at some point in the previous ten years.” (National Student Clearinghouse Research Center) While both a two-year and a four-year education bring benefits, starting with a two-year is the better option for any student because of the flexible schedules, low costs, and excellent faculty-student ratios. The flexible class schedules that colleges offer benefit many individuals. Many people at both types of institutions use the flexible scheduling to keep them occupied throughout the week. Most four-year college students spend their days travelling to class on campus which provides an excellent opportunity to network and meet helpful people. However, more than 80% of students attending a community-college work part-time or full-time jobs. ( People working towards a degree with a family at home often choose to attend a community-college because they can easily correlate their busy schedules with their school work.
