In today’s society, two influential individuals have taking over the television spot as daytime talk show host. At the same time, they became the most powerful and inspiring women of our generation. Pioneering women in the entertainment business, as they gained a massive fan base following through their show and social media interactions; therefore, helping inspire more women to step into the career of entertainment. These two individuals are Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey, whom at first show a variety of similarities with one another but are in fact completely different when they are further investigated. For example, Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey show the majority of contrast in the way they grew up, their own personalities and talk show host style, and even their wealth.
To begin, Ellen DeGeneres was born in Metairie, Louisiana, and her parents divorced while she was still in her teenage years. Before she took on the job of a comedian and a talk show host, she dreamed of becoming a veterinarian but realized she was not considered “book smart” to further proceed in her dream. She studied at the University of New Orleans but decided to drop out after the very first semester. Throughout her list of jobs, such as waiting tables and painting houses, she finally caught a break after speaking at a public event and used humor to get through it.
