How could reacting to the present be wasteful of time when such women are parenting their children? If the parent spent her life living in time ahead while her infants grow up, the children of the future would end up with no or insufficient parenting as their mother was negligent at the time of their childhood. In the long run, the outcome is disastrous. Furthermore, such a personality brings out the most of each day which is the exact opposite of what Steinem believes. Reacting to the present means dealing with every aspect of the day which results in great lessons, experiences and wisdom. On the other hand, I agree with Steinem that living in the future is wasteful of time to a certain extent, but not completely. Planning ahead sets a clear path to the future. The ambiguity of the upcoming life decreases and one controls their destiny by aiming straight to the life one wishes to have. To complement the medical adventures of the popular series ER, its creators focused on the private lives of each character to keep things interesting. What stands out in the series is the feasibility of the story lines.
