This paper will discuss Federal Reserve System in relation to the FED Bank and how the latest Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) Meeting went. The FED is the central bank of the United States (Case, Fair, & Oster, 2017). The FOMC sets goals and interest rates to help direct the operation of the open market. We will look at what tools of monetary policy that was discussed in the latest meeting as well as and how their decisions make sense in light of the current economy. Throughout the review we will also look at a Christian world view. Finally we will discuss when the next meeting will be.
The FOMC is the monetary policymaking committee of the Federal Reserve System. The last meeting was November 1st and 2nd, 2016. There are usually about 8 meeting a year but the Committee may also hold unscheduled meetings if needed for economic and financial developments. The main objective of these meetings is to follow the law regulations to regulate monetary policy to achieve economic goals while keeping employment and prices stable. By keeping prices stable the government is helping balance the economy which keeps people able to plan and budget for their own needs. The bible says, “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money” (Matthew 6:24). If the economy is unstable it would be easier for people to lose focus of God and focus their needs on money. By…
