“… tramp, tart, slut, whore, bimbo, and of course, that woman.” It is easy to realize the words above are intended for humiliation. Moreover, society likes to believe this immature act to occur only at young ages; ceasing to exist once we are adults. But in reality, this is not true. Rather, it has become worse; utilizing technology and social media to ruin another persons’ reputation. Furthermore, public attention nowadays is promoting shame; de-sensitizing the situation entirely. Consequently in worst case scenarios, resulting in the victim to commit suicide. Fortunately, there are people taking action. Monica Lewinsky, a former intern at the white house, illustrated her cyberbullying experience through her TED talk: The Price of Shame. Leading the way for a change to help end the pain of people who too have been cyberbullied; and preventing another life to be taken by suicide.

Before I get ahead of myself, it is best to understand what led Monica to become a media sensation. Based on her testimony, she confided in an older co-worker, Linda Tripp, about her sexual encounters with Bill Clinton between the years of 1995-1997. In view of the president’s history of sexual misconducts, Tripp began to document their conversations; ultimately revealed to the public in January of 1998 (Biography, 01).
