However, while rental control is one way for residents to reclaim their neighborhoods from gentrification, another way to fight back against it, is the creation of community trusts, which are incorporated when individuals in their respective areas buy land not being utilized in their neighborhoods. Furthermore, by buying this land it protects it from being developed by outside developers, and allows it to be used by the community in the form of community gardens, as well as housing for low income families if homes are built upon it.
