Most citizens found this regulation ridiculous along with the beverage industry which filed a motion in court opposing the regulation. I feel that Mayor Bloomberg’s regulation does nothing to curb the consumption of sugary drinks. People will simply refill their 16 oz container to make up for the smaller size. There are more important issues Mayor Bloomberg should be concerned with such as crime, unemployment, housing issues, or inner-city poverty. This regulation seems like a waste of taxpayer funds as New York City police would be placed in a position to enforce this regulation. Bloomberg’s regulation is a form of scial regulation. Our text states that, “the aim of social regulation is a better quality of life through improved
