In the case, Charles Augustus was kidnapped on 1st March 1932. The crime happened in Lindbergh home located in Hopewell. According to police investigations, muddy footsteps led to the room where the little boy had been sleeping. A broken ladder and a ransom note which demanded payments of $50, 000 was also discovered, besides the ransom was negotiations on places where payments would be made. Painfully the body of the missing boy was found on 12th may 1932 by an assistant truck driver. Upon discovery of the body investigations begun.
