Most of the main characters’ characteristics can not be solely judged by looking at their appearance in play Macbth. “Fair is foul, and foul is fair” This is a paradox means things that appear good, can in fact, be bad. Things appear bad,can in fact, be good. Thoughout the play, the appearance vs reality becomes the source of many characters’tragic ending: Lady Macbeth was tricked by her own appearance, Duncan is too trusting of people’s appearance. Macbeth towards to the tragic ending because he uses his appearance to achieve his goal and he is also tricked by his own appearance. The source of Lady Macbeth’ tragedy is she is tricked by her won appearance.The way she acts outside is totally different from her inside. Firstly, after they murder King Duncan, Macbeth gets stronger but Lady Macbeth becomes despiar “Out, damned spot!” (Act 5, Scene 1, 25)This quote is significant because it displays situational irony. Before they commit murder, Lady Macbeth was lack of conscience. Her appearance was a gentle wife and her inside is a ambitious murder. However, towards the end her conscience drives her mad and she sleepwalks, which means her appearance becomes an ambitious murder but her inside becomes a conscience person. It is relates to the thesis that the reverse of her appearance and inside results in her death of feeling guilty. Secondly, before Macbeth commit murder,Lady Macbeth persuads Macbeth to be manly and brave, she always trying to behaves strong and heartless. “I…
