Throughout history we have seen massacres and mass killings of people for selfish and unnecessary reasons. Growing up, I remember reading the story about Anne Frank in school. I remember thinking how difficult it must have been to go through such terrible circumstances and not know if you are going to make it to see the next day. She was so young but yet was still very brave. Even in the tragedy, she some a glimpse of hope. I think it must have been hard to understand why they killed so many people because they were different. Even though we have seen this multiple times through history, it does not make it any easier to fathom. Millions of people were killed. The holocaust is now in most of our history books. As I child I could not fathom how they were not able to stop them or why no other country stepped in and stood up for whats right. But as a child things are usually black and white. Good will always win and evil will not prevail. But that is not always the case in the real world. Some genocides and wars will never even make it into our history books. “In the weeks after April 6, 1994, 800,000 men, women, and children perished in the Rwandan genocide, perhaps as many as three quarters of the Tutsi population. At the same time, thousands of Hutu were murdered because they opposed the killing campaign and the forces directing it”(“United Human Rights Council”). This is a hard number to take in when you consider these are real people. These are lives being stripped…
