Anne Frank: Massacres And Mass Killings Of People

Superior Essays
Throughout history we have seen massacres and mass killings of people for selfish and unnecessary reasons. Growing up, I remember reading the story about Anne Frank in school. I remember thinking how difficult it must have been to go through such terrible circumstances and not know if you are going to make it to see the next day. She was so young but yet was still very brave. Even in the tragedy, she some a glimpse of hope. I think it must have been hard to understand why they killed so many people because they were different. Even though we have seen this multiple times through history, it does not make it any easier to fathom. Millions of people were killed. The holocaust is now in most of our history books. As I child I could not fathom …show more content…

This is a hard number to take in when you consider these are real people. These are lives being stripped away too soon. This genocide was caused my corruption in the government. The Hutu were killing anyone who looked like they were apart of the Tutsi population. The people were unable to fight back due to the poor economic, environmental, and poverty status of the country. A fellow classmate, Emily Ford, stated that the issues that Rwanda faced were stemmed off of the high population and poverty rate. I agree with this statement completely. This does not make it easy to live off of the land. In this unit I have learned the significance of the state of the environment and the people have a large affect on their history. Even though they were in such a low state of living, the are people as well. They did not deserve to die just because they were different. I still believe that we should have stepped in and done the best we could to save the people from turning on themselves. I can 't imagine feeling worried my government was going to turn on its
