African American Firefighter Museum Essay

The African American museum is the only African American firefighter museum in the whole United States. The name of the museum challenged me to write about this unique site .I was wondering what this site will be about. Why specially the African Americans as firefighters. I decided to search more about the African American museum. The African American firefighter museum is located in Los Angeles County in California. This museum was built in the place fire station 30, where the some firefighters were segregated. The museum emphasizes on the role of the African American firefighter in the American history. Also, the history of the African American firefighters is efficiently described in this museum. The story of the museum began by the story of African American fire fighter called Sam Haskins. His name is written in bold in the African American history; he was the first African American man to be employed in Los Angeles county fire station. Sam Haskins was born in Virginia in 1846 as a slave. Sam Haskins decided since this moment that he will not complete his life as salve. Sam Haskins was employed at the fire station at 1892. A huge fire took place in First Street. Sam Haskins was called to help out in this fire. On that day Sam was severely and bloody injured. No one was able to rescue him on this day. He died in his station to where he belongs. Sam has lost his life to save the lives of others. You can imagine how strongly Sam was related to his job from his personality. Since this moment this place has always been number one attracting a huge number of visitors each year. Arnett Hartsfield is one reputable figure in the history of Los Angeles fire department. He started his carrier in Los Angeles fire department in the 1940 s. He was volunteering in the museum despite his age; he was 92 years old. While he was volunteering there; he was trying to tell the public how hard was the history for the African American firefighters. He was trying to let people get the most benefit from visiting this archeological site. After Arnett Hartsfield was hired at the fire station; he started working on his Law degree from USC. The moment Arnett Hartsfield got his Law degree; he started his attempts to equalize between people at the fire station. He wanted to make sure that the black firefighters were fairly treated as the white firefighters. Arnett Hartsfield was trying to tell the public the achievements of the African Americans fighters. The presence of Arnett Hartsfield in the museum was the biggest service he can do for America. Arnett Hartsfield was travelling thought the country to invite people from all over the states to come and visit the museum. He was trying to make the public to explore this page of the American history. This museum is opened based on the donations received from the public. The museum is also opened for organization meetings and dinners. Also, the museum will be a nice place to
