1. Why is it important to celebrate, or observe Black History Month? It is important to celebrate, or observe Black History Month because it teaches us what an impact African Americans made in history. Black History Month teaches us about African Americans who fought for their freedom and rights and who have inspired many other African Americans today and long ago. I also want to say I am very happy that we get to discuss Black History Month because it helps me better understand that the world is not what it used to be because it is better.
2. What have you learned from my class in the month of February? What I have learned from your class in the month of February is that the world was a cruel place a long time ago and how they treated African Americans was just wrong. When we read the passage called “The Sit-in Movement” in the passage I remembered it, saying that they used to hit the kids as punishment and they couldn’t resist they had to sit there and take the punishment. If you were an educator of children of a different race (other than yourself). How would you promote cultural heritage and awareness in the school setting? Hint: It must be appropriate. If I was an educator of children of a different race I would promote heritage and awareness in the school setting by doing activities that their culture did and maybe make a dish that is made by that specific culture and we could read some stories about some people from their heritages that made a difference or a mark in history. 4. Asian Heritage Month is in May. I would like for you to brainstorm activities we could possibly do in class. For Asian Heritage Month we could possibly do some activities like origami or we could have Ricky Zhang’s mom bring a dish and maybe we can read some passages about Asian heritage. If we read some Asian heritage passages, then maybe we will get to learn more about their culture and more activities they do for fun and maybe we could try
