Abuse Explaining the use of drugs is an important issue that continues to grow in today’s society. The abuse of drugs can be deadly and can alter lives very quickly. There are several explanations to why drug use and is a problem. Abusing drugs is derived from several factors such as family, peers, community, drugs, and social economics. Even though drugs affect many people, the affects can be faced in successful ways.
Nearly every culture has had a problem with the use of drugs and drug abuse (Hanson, Venturelli, & Fleckenstein, 2012). Drugs have caused many illnesses and injuries across the world from continued misuse of licit and illicit drugs. Having the exact cause to drug abuse is yet to be known, but there are several risk factors that contribute to substance abuse: those who use drugs could be looking for pleasure to improve athletic performances, looking to relive pain, and symptoms that may cause an illness. Even though there are reasons that may prove particular causes of extreme abusive drug use, but explaining the different motives could possibly never end. Those that use drugs can be defined as an abuser by how much and how often the drug is being consumed (Joseph Goldberg, 2014). “Research shows that drug consumption is found across many different income, education, social class, occupation, race and ethnic lifestyles, and age groups (Hanson, Venturelli, & Fleckenstein, 2012).” Each drug user is different and it is not certain when the use of drugs changes to…
