Teenage Depression Can Be Maintained!

Is teenage depression a huge problem in today’s America? The correct answer is yes. Depression can slowly creep up on a teen as growth and hormones start to kick in. Feelings and reactions start to change and problems such as being anti-social come about. According to an article about depression and teens, “A new study released in January of this year, led by Jean Twenge, a San Diego State University psychology professor, finds that five times as many high school and college students are dealing with depression and other mental health issues as youth of the same age who were studied in the Great Depression era” (Borchard). Depression in teens, a big problem, can be prevented though socializing, exercise, and therapy sessions.
One way to prevent depression is by socializing. There is no one way to socialize with other people; it’s just getting out in the world and communicating. Sometimes this comes to be a challenge for teens with depression. In general, depression causes deep sadness and sometimes anti-socialism; It doesn’t matter the age, race, or religion! Socializing blocks out negative vibes and releases a chemical in the brain to feel happiness. Family and friends bring out the best when it comes to this. Social gatherings such as birthdays, reunions, and occasional visits are great for getting the teen to open up. Sleepovers with friends and having a night on the town also can distract the…
