Education Majors
Teachers have the ability to educate, challenge, and expand the minds of children who will shape and refine the world’s future. They inspire students to become scientists who may discover a cure for cancer, doctors that will save lives, or athletes who will break records. Children depend on teachers to provide them with every opportunity to become great, which is why earning a teaching certificate should not be an easy process. Today, one has to pass the Praxis test, obtain a 3.0 GPA, and complete the assigned college courses to earn a teaching certificate. Due to these simple requirements, unqualified college graduates are becoming ineffective teachers that are failing to assist their students in the right direction.

She says she loved rigor and problem solving, but those two characteristics were absent from the education coursework. Evans states, “when people who love learning don 't find it remotely appealing to study education, something 's wrong.” This shows a student who loved learning and wanted to major in education, but due to the coursework not being challenging she changed her major. Fortunately, Evans eventually found an alternative way to become a teacher that did not involve taking easy courses. Students are paying thousands of dollars to expand their education while colleges are failing to educate them, causing college students to waste their time and money. In response, researchers from a 2012 study “tracked 2.5 million students from the same urban school district over 20 years, from fourth grade to adulthood” in order to prove Suzi Parker statement. “The results showed that a good teacher can influence a student’s chances to attend college, earn more money, and even avoid teen pregnancy” (Parker). This shows the impact teachers have on students’ lives and the consequences of having an ineffective teacher, which is why education programs need to include courses that involve how to to be an effective teacher and ways to manage a classroom full of children rather than only teaching basic
